FROM IDEATION TO EXECUTION
It took two years from idea to launch but we’re glad we took our time in developing a re-imagined skin care line using hemp flower concentrate and butterfly pea flower extracts grown at our farm in Monroe, WA.
We knew from research that Cannabidiol (CBD), a natural, non-intoxicating compound found in hemp plants offer several benefits for the skin, including reducing inflammation, moisturizing, and improving symptoms of acne, eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. Its anti-inflammatory properties may also help with aging skin by reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
We also knew that butterfly pea flowers, scientifically known as Clitoria ternatea, offer numerous benefits for skin care. These vibrant blue flowers are rich in antioxidants, including flavonoids and anthocyanins, which help combat free radicals and reduce oxidative stress on the skin. Its anti-inflammatory properties promote moisture retention, keeping the skin hydrated and supple, which is essential for maintaining a youthful complexion.
With that knowledge, we embarked on a journey to develop a formulation that incorporates these two plants into a skin care regimen. It took two years of research, professional consultations, trials, learning from our errors, testing, quality control, and personally using the products for our team to confidently release the Hemp & Butterfly Skin Care line and allow others to reap the same benefits we have had.
THOUGHTFUL CONSIDERATIONS
From the ingredients to the manufacturing process, to the packaging, a lot of thought had gone into the Hemp & Butterfly Skin Care line.
Our products are vegan and always cruelty-free. We see animals as spirit souls, so we don’t work with suppliers whose ingredients compromise animal welfare.
If you notice a scent, know that it’s coming from the natural terpenes of the hemp flowers. These terpenes also hold medicinal benefits.
The color you see in our products are the natural chemical reaction of the butterfly pea flowers. By the way, dried butterfly pea flowers are a neutral-tasting tea believed to provide antioxidant properties, reduce anxiety, improve skin health, and support cognitive function!
We’ve enclosed a tea bag for you try and in fact, add some lemons to see it turn from blue to purple and even pink!
PACKAGING CHALLENGES
Let’s talk about packaging. This was challenging. We wanted to avoid plastic so did a lot of research and checked out a bunch of samples but in the end, we had to balance functionality, product safety, and cost. We found that for viscous products, airless vacuum containers provide an excellent way to avoid exposing the product from contamination. Where vacuum containers didn’t work, we went for packaging that included a built-in scoop or a stand-alone scoop. Please make us feel better by re-using the containers!
PRODUCT PURPOSE
As you can see, we take things seriously here at the farm. We never put out any products which we don’t ourselves use. We know from experience that hemp flowers and butterfly pea flowers have been good for us, so we wanted you to experience it too!

The typical skin regimen uses all six main products: Cleanser, Toner, Serum, Eye Cream, Moisturizer, and Age Defy Cream. There’s a purpose for each of the products as follows but you can certainly pick just one or two products and incorporate them in your current skin care regimen. I did that while I was finishing up the expensive Obagi kit I’ve been using for years. Once I ran out, I switched to just the Hemp & Butterfly regimen and my skin is loving it.
Skin care products and their purpose:
- Cleanser is used to wash off impurities on the skin and unclog pores.
- Toner is used to balance the skin’s PH and prep the skin to absorb subsequent products.
- Serum is used to protect skin from free radicals with HYALURONIC ACID as an active ingredient.
- Eye Cream is used to maintain hydration around the eyes to minimize dryness and puffiness.
- Moisturizer is used to balance the skin’s natural oil production and nourish the skin.
- Age Defy Cream is used to boost hydration for mature skin and retain moisture.
